Growing government
There are a lot of people in this country who, as government grows and the economy becomes more strained, automatically assume the answer is to raise taxes. Take more money from the rich. Make them pay their fair share. When I hear this I wonder what is their fair share? Who gets to decide what their fair share is? Reader promotes Republican governor
What do Ohio, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and New Mexico have in common? They are all Democrat states that had enough of the "tax and spend" philosophy of the Democrat party so they elected Republican governors to turn their economies around. It has worked for them so why can't we do the same in Washington? We haven't elected a Republican Governor since 1980! That is why our taxes keep going up, the public unions call all the shots, and businesses are going elsewhere. It is time to make a change and Rob Mckenna is the man to do the job.! Jay Inslee is just another do-nothing Democrat Congressman who just collected his $174,000 salary for over a decade. He believes he is entitled to the job just because of the "D" after his name.

Dennis Clay is at it again. One week he and his friends are shooing elk herds off of ranchers' fields because they are so plentiful they are becoming almost a pest. The next week, wolves are decimating elk herds to the point of towns losing the economic boost of hunters. This is all just to stir up the angry mob to light the torches. Outdoor writers like Clay have to fall into line or be shunned.
Reader airs frustrations with Romney
I am increasingly frustrated with Mitt Romney, who has stated before "I am rich and don't apologize for it". Well Mitt, I don't want you to, but what I do ask is that you acknowledge that you wouldn't have made it in America, without the American people. You were fortunate enough to be born in a country where upward mobility is possible, just ask Barack Obama. You need to stand up and admit that it is not fair to ask the middle class to be saddled anymore with an unfair amount of taxes. I want Mitt to admit that in our great country, we all should pay our fair share. That, my friends, is called patriotism, a word that the Teapublicans love to throw around, as long as it doesn't cost their loved and adored rich folk any money. Yeah, it's quite the patriotic thing to do, hiding money in offshore accounts, to skirt the IRS and not pay your fair share. Yeah, you really represent my interests. Mitt for President is not going to happen...Thank God.

Reader responds to Candidates' Forum
At the Moses Lake Candidates' Forum both candidates for State Representative spoke. Matt Manweller's presentation was smooth, well-spoken, a long-time school teacher, turned lobbyist in Olympia. He believes in everything smaller: less government in everything; a right-to-work state for less wages; less regulation of clean water, air, etc. from the EPA; less safety rules in the workplace and less business regulation of all kinds; and repeal of the Affordable Care Act. He is most concerned about spending cuts and taxes.
