Chiefs soccer gets overtime win

WENATCHEE - Moses Lake picked up an important road win Tuesday as the Chiefs got past the Panthers 4-3 in overtime. The victory runs Moses Lake to 6-2 in the CBBN and puts the team two back of first place Davis with two games left in the regular season.

The Chiefs took a 1-0 lead on goal by Lizzy McGraw seven minutes into the match. Hunter Mauseth made it 2-0 with a score at the 13:30 mark.

Moses Lake increased its lead to 3-0 on a goal by Stephanie Overland in the 37th minute of action and looked to be in complete control of the match with three minutes to play in the first half.

But a goal by the Panthers Emily Radar at the 38 minute mark closed the gap to 3-1 and sparked three unanswered goals by Wenatchee to tie the match 3-3 at the end of regulation play and send the game into overtime.

The teams held each other in check for four minutes in the extra period until the Chiefs London Cleverly (Alysha Overland) found the back of the Panther box at the 84th minute of action to give Moses Lake the win.

The Chiefs keeper Jeanette Alvarado recorded five saves in the match.

Moses Lake had 17 shots on frame to Wenatchee's seven.

The Chiefs are back on the pitch Oct. 23 when Moses Lake hosts Eisenhower at Lions Park at 7 p.m.

The Chiefs close out the regular season at home against Davis Oct. 25 in what could be a battle for the league title, should the Pirates lose to Wenatchee prior to facing Moses Lake.
