| October 6, 2012 6:00 AM

James W. Hartman, age 70, was born in Portland, Ore. On June 30, 1942, and died September 11, 2012.

He attended the Washington State University on a R.O.T.C. scholarship, then was employed by Boeing as an engineer.

On retirement he moved to Soap Lake, Wash., where he enjoyed the lake and the mud baths.

He loved his mother Lurana Hootman, whom he called Mama Lu, and his dog Rudy more than words can tell.

"Jim" was a gentleman and an artist. He was beloved by his friends and his two sons: Bret Hartman and Bart Hartman of Seattle, Wash.

At James' request there will be no services, and his ashes are to be dropped in Puget Sound between Bremerton and Seattle.
