EPHRATA - An Ephrata man's girlfriend reportedly orchestrated his attack in an E Street apartment.

Brittany L. Pruitt, 24, of Ephrata, reportedly admitted to attacking her 23-year-old boyfriend, with a rolling pin in the apartment they shared, according to court records.

Prosecutors charged Pruitt, her brother, Rusty J. Abrams, and a third man, Jason B. McIlwain, with being accomplices in first-degree assault and second-degree assault, according to court records.

Abrams, 30, of Ephrata, was arrested Wednesday following an arrest warrant, according to court records. An arrest warrant was issued for McIlwain, 30, of Yakima.

Grant County Superior Court Judge Evan Sperline set Pruitt's bail at $50,000, following a request by Prosecutor Angus Lee to set bail at $100,000.

Issues between the victim and Pruitt started two days prior to the alleged attack, when they got into a fight, according to an Ephrata police report. The victim went to stay at his father's home and received a text message from Pruitt, stating she wanted to "work things out."

While the two were at the apartment, Pruitt was sending text messages, according to the police report. About 20 to 30 minutes later, Abrams knocked on the door. The victim went to check on it and said that it was Abrams.

Abrams allegedly opened the door and came in with McIlwain, according to the police report. Abrams asked the victim about his post office box key. When he said it was in his coat, and started to get off the couch, Abrams and McIlwain reportedly approached the victim, telling him to sit.

Abrams allegedly drew a bat and McIlwain pulled out a pipe, according to the police report.

Abrams reportedly took the victim's keys, leaving the post office box key. Pruitt allegedly asked for the victim's cellphone, and thinking she was going to call the police, he handed it to her, and she took it into the kitchen.

Abrams reportedly started yelling at the victim about hurting Pruitt, and pulled out a small knife and started pointing and jabbing the knife at the victim, according to the police report. When the victim stood, Abrams allegedly punched him in the chest.

The victim allegedly tried to diffuse the situation, saying they didn't need to fight, when Pruitt came into the room with a rolling pin, telling the victim not to lie to her brother.

She allegedly hit the victim in the side of his head.

The victim reportedly grabbed Abrams and Abrams tried to stab him, according to court records. Abrams and McIlwain allegedly hit the victim in the back and head with the bat and pipe.

The victim reportedly pushed his way to the door, and Pruitt told the men to let him go, according to the police report. He ran to a neighboring home.

McIlwain and Abrams reportedly fled the residence, according to the police report.

Pruitt allegedly admitted to attacking her boyfriend, and told police two other men were involved, but did not identify the men, according to the police report.
