Family of ill Moses Lake teen asks for prayers

MOSES LAKE - Family and friends of a Moses Lake teen who's been in coma for more than two weeks are asking people to pray for his recovery, his aunt said. A fund was established to help his family meet expenses connected with the boy's continuing stay in Spokane.

Carlos Reyna, 15, lost consciousness while at a Moses Lake restaurant Oct. 6, and has been in a coma ever since, said his aunt Priscilla Reyna. Carlos hit his head when he passed out, but doctors still are running tests to find out what happening, Priscilla Reyna said.

Doctors determined Carlos suffered some swelling in his head, bleeding on the brain and possible brain damage, but the extent of his injuries is still undetermined, his aunt said. He has been unconscious since he was found and has not awakened, she said. He is breathing on his own.

Carlos was with his friends and they ran from the restaurant to get help, Priscilla Reyna said, but in the meantime a bystander found Carlos and called 911. The bystander did not leave his name, and family members want to thank him for his help, she said.

Priscilla said Carlos is a freshman at Moses Lake High School and loves skateboarding, video games and dancing. He is part of a local dance crew called the Flii Kids, she said.
