Quincy man airlifted to Wenatchee hospital

EPHRATA - A two-vehicle wreck sent a Quincy man to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee this week.

According to Washington State Patrol reports, Santos Cuevapartida, 23, was airlifted to the facility after being rear ended on state Route 28 Monday evening.

Cuevapartida was traveling westbound on the highway roughly four miles west of Ephrata.

Troopers said he slowed to make a left turn on a private driveway just before 5:30 p.m.

His 2001 Dodge Dakota was struck from behind by a 1992 Chevrolet Astrovan driven by Thomas A. Wallingford, 44, of Moses Lake.

Neither Wallingford nor Cuevapartida's passenger, Julio Ramirez, 45, hometown unknown, reported any injuries, troopers said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Cuevapartida's current status was not available from the hospital.

Troopers said all parties were wearing seat belts. Drugs or alcohol were not a factor, reports said. Both vehicles were considered a total loss and towed from the scene.

Wallingford was cited for driving too close.

Update: Due to incorrect information from the Washington State Patrol, this story said a Quincy man was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.

Troopers announced Friday that Thomas A. Wallingford, 44, of Moses Lake, was actually airlifted to the facility, where he was treated and released by hospital staff last Monday.

Santos Cuervapardita, 23, of Quincy, was not injured in the wreck on state Route 28 last week.
