Roberto "Robert" J. Reyes

Roberto "Robert" J. Reyes, 74, longtime Warden resident, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to the time of the Rosary on Monday, October 15, 2012. Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15 at Kayser's Chapel of Memories. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 16 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Warden. Robert was born on April 10, 1938 in Portland, Texas, son of the late Rosendo and Enriqueta (Jalomo) Reyes. He was raised and educated in Crystal City, Texas and moved to Mabton, Washington before settling in Warden as a young man. Robert married Petra Garza in 1968 and they have made their home in Warden since. He was a farm laborer and owned a trucking company with his brothers, Reyes Brother's Trucking from 1962 to the mid 1970's. He then worked for Columbia Producer's in Warden and later Skone and Connor's before retiring in 2000.

Robert was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Warden and many years ago had been active in Cursillo at the church. He enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening and loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Petra Reyes; 2 children, Norma (Celestino) Contreras and Yolanda Reyes; one brother, Angel Reyes; eight grandchildren, Mikayla Reyes, Gilbert Reyes, Noah Reyes, Andrea Contreras, Amanda Contreras, Anthony Contreras, Raul Farias, Jr. and Elvira Farias. Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one son, Gilbert Reyes, a sister, Elvira Trujillo and a brother, Juan Reyes.
