Royal girl basketballers to make, sell goodies

| October 17, 2012 6:00 AM

ROYAL CITY - If you happen to pass by the Napa Auto Parts store in Royal City this Saturday, Oct. 20, and notice a commotion being made by a bunch of young girls, you may just want to drop in.

Those girls are members of the Royal City fifth- and sixth-grade girls basketball team, coached by Dana Hebdon.

They will be offering baked goods and other things from the kitchen to raise funds for their program.

"In order to play basketball before seventh grade, the girls have to come up with a way to pay for their own tournament fees, travel expenses, and jerseys," Hebdon said.

The girls will be in front of Napa Auto Parts from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

They will be selling baked goods they have made.

There will be everything from biscuits to brownies to ceviche.

There will also be a homemade baby quilt to be auctioned.

"Please come support these young athletes in your community: Ana Cedillo, Karla Villalobos, Odalys Campos, Bianca Sotelo, Jenae A. Mercado, Olga Cruz, Diana Alvarez, Danielle Lima, and Emma Wilhelm," Hebdon said.
