CBSS drops match to Thorp
MOSES LAKE - Columbia Basin Secondary School (CBSS) battled tooth and nail with Thorp Thursday night. But the Lady Phoenix weren't able to pull out a victory at home as the team lost a five set volleyball game (20-25, 25-15, 25-18, 9-25, 8-15) to the Lady Tigers.
"The girls played great against a really tough team," coach Terri Pixlee said. "They were really focused after winning two games in the middle of the match, but when I had to pull a player because of an injury, they seemed to lose their rhythm."
Crystal Lloyd led the offensive attack for the Phoenix with three aces and two kills. She also came up big defensively with five blocks. Emilee Hieronymus added three aces and two kills and Amber Lloyd finished with two aces, two kills and five blocks on the match.
"Crystal and Amber Lloyd were all over the court and were putting up the most kills and blocks," Pixlee said. "We play one nonleague game next week, but then we'll have two tough games against Wilson Creek and Soap Lake the following week."
