EPHRATA - A stabbing in a Moses Lake apartment was allegedly in retaliation for an August shooting on Grape Drive.

Prosecutors charged Jerry R. Perry, 25, of Moses Lake, with first-degree assault in Grant County Superior Court, according to court records.

Visiting Douglas County Superior Court Judge John Hotchkiss set Perry's bail at $100,000, according to court records.

Perry reportedly admitted to stabbing Patrick Garcia, 23, of Moses Lake in a Third Avenue apartment, claiming the victim was the person who shot him while he was riding his bike near Home Depot, according to a Moses Lake police report. He also alleged Garcia was involved with another incident, assaulting him with a board.

According to the police report, Garcia is a known gang member.

Garcia reported not knowing why Perry attacked him, saying he saw the man around the complex, but only knew him as Perry.

Perry reportedly went to Garcia's apartment with a container containing anti-psychotic and blood pressure medications to sell the drugs to Garcia, according to the police report. Garcia reported being woken up by Perry knocking on the door. When Garcia opened the door, Perry reportedly came into the residence and began hitting him in the head and upper body.

Garcia allegedly didn't realize Perry was stabbing him, according to the police report. Garcia reportedly pushed Perry out of the apartment and went to grab something to defend himself. When he turned around, he saw Perry fleeing the scene.

Garcia went to a neighbor's residence and was transported to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment, according to the police report. Perry allegedly stabbed Garcia multiple times in the back and once in the neck.

Police found Perry walking on North Stratford Road. Officers found the brown coat Perry was allegedly wearing at the time of the stabbing near the bike path on West Marina Drive. Blood was reportedly found on the coat, according to the police report. A bottle with pills inside was allegedly located inside the coat pocket.
