Pateros edges out Soap Lake Eagles

PATEROS - David Ordarchuk scored two touchdowns and Joe Cutshall threw for two and ran for another, but it wasn't enough to propel the Eagles to a road win over the Billy Goats Friday.

The loss to Pateros drops Soap Lake to 1-2 in the 1B Northeast South Conference and 1-4 overall.

"We took a step forward offensively and defensively with the win over Waterville, but took one step back for the offense and two steps back for the defense this week," coach Joe Worsham said. "We dropped a couple of touchdown passes and did not execute very well. And we made their tailback, Jerry Figueroa, look like the league MVP."

He ran for 200 yards, 4 four TD's and  three 2-point conversions to lead the way for the Billy Goats.

"We could not tackle him no matter what defense or stunt or who we assigned to get the job done," Worsham said. " I thought we actually had a good week of practice ... were prepared for them offensively and defensively, but just got totally outplayed in every aspect of the football game. We have to do a better job of preparation this week to get ready for Entiat."

 The game against Parteos was competitive throughout as the Eagles trailed 16-12 at the end of the first quarter.

Soap Lake fell behind 32-12 at the half, but outscored Pateros 20-14 in the second half of action, but came up shy of a win. as the team dropped the contest 44-32.

Soap Lake is back in action Friday when the team travels to Entiat to take on the Tigers.
