Grant County PUD plans two Archaeology Days

| October 5, 2012 6:00 AM

BEVERLY - In recognition of archaeology month, Grant PUD and the Wanapum Heritage Center invite members of the public to Archaeology Days 2012 on Oct. 10-11.

The 10th will be adult day, the PUD said. The 11th will be kids' day.

This year's event provides a unique opportunity to learn the latest information related to the 9,000-year-old Kennewick Man discovered along the shores of the Columbia River in 1996.

Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Douglas Owsley of the Smithsonian Institution will provide insights from his years of research.

The Wanapum Heritage Center extends this opportunity to convey the significance of protecting the cultural resources of this region. Demonstrations and displays will be available throughout the day and lunch will be provided.
