Royal drop soccer match

| October 30, 2012 6:00 AM

ROYAL CITY - For a second time this season, Kiona-Benton was too much for the young Royal High School girls soccer team, claiming a 3-0 victory last week.

"Ki-Be obviously won the game, but our girls were much improved over the first game against the Bears," coach Jens Jensen said.

For the most part, the Royal girls made things difficult for the talented Bears, forcing them to come up with special efforts to break down the Royal defense.

"All in all, we are happy with the improvement we have seen over the course of the season," Jensen said. "We are a little bummed that with only one match remaining, we are starting to see some of the things we have been working on since August."

Royal was weak on the attack, with only one shot for the entire match. The defense was much better, turning away 11 of Ki-Be's 14 shots. Goalie Flor Araujo had six saves.
