EPHRATA - Grant County PUD commissioners announced Monday the three finalists for the district 3 board position that will be left vacant by Randy Allred.

Melva Calloway, Evan Landin and Larry Schaapman are up for the position that opens on Nov. 1.

All three candidates reside in Quincy.

Calloway, Landin and Schaapman were among seven candidates up for the vacant position. All seven were interviewed prior to Monday's decision.

The candidates will be introduced to the public during a community meeting on at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Quincy Community Center. The finalists will also be able to answer any audience questions.

Following the community meeting, PUD commissioners will appoint one of the candidates to fill the rest of Allred's unexpired term, which doesn't expire until December 2014.

District 3 covers Mattawa, Quincy, George, Royal City and rural areas west of Moses Lake. All candidates must be a registered voter in the district boundary and be qualified to hold elective office under state law.

The Quincy Community Center is located at 115 F St. SW. For a map of the commissioner district boundaries visit the PUD's webpage at www.gcpud.org.
