Early morning Standoff in Moses Lake neighborhood

MOSES LAKE — Grant County sheriff's officials swung into action early Monday morning after a suspect barricaded himself into a Moses Lake home on Lybbert Drive Northeast.

The road was closed from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., officials said.

"It came to the attention of law enforcement due to a complaint of threats," sheriff's spokesman Kyle Foreman said. "We have reason to believe that there explosives inside the house."

Negotiators spoke with the suspect, who was found in a shed next to the home. Richland police officers assisted with negotiations.

After a lengthy back and forth, officers employed tear gas to apprehend the suspect. Foreman said that officers used bean bag rounds to subdue the assailant.

The man was taken into custody uninjured, Foreman said.

Though explosives were initially reported, none were found.
