Margaret "Peggy" Longston

Margaret "Peggy" Longston, 77, a longtime Moses Lake resident passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital. Viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m., Thursday, October 11 at Kayser's Chapel. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 12 at Kayser's Chapel with interment at 2:15 p.m. at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, Washington. Peggy was born in Youngstown, Ohio on May 7, 1935 daughter of the late Raymond Murphy and Edith Benjamin. She was raised and educated in Youngstown. Peggy married Jack Hetherington in 1950 and they had four children, John, Darlene, Rex and Vickie. She had three sisters, Ray, Evelyn and Barbara. Besides her husband, Leroy, Peggy was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene and two sisters, Ray and Barbara.

The family moved from Youngstown to Sunnyside, Washington in 1954 and then in 1962 they moved to Moses Lake. Peggy worked as a waitress at various places though out her life. In 1975 she married Leroy Longston who had two children, Chris and Robin. Peggy and Leroy raised cattle and they endeavored in other business ventures. Peggy and Leroy were snowbirds, having homes in Yuma, Arizona and Moses Lake and enjoyed traveling back and forth. They also enjoyed riding their motorcycles. Peggy also looked forward to her weekly card games with her girlfriends and putting puzzles together. Peggy enjoyed and is survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
