Broncos turn back Colfax

COLFAX - A stingy Bronco defense and four Connor O'Neill touchdowns paved the way for Lind/Ritzville-Sprague's (LRS) eighth win in a row as the team turned back Colfax 34-14 on the road Friday.

The game was highly competitive for the first three quarters as the lead changed hands three times before the Broncos were able to establish dominance.

O'Neill got LRS on the board first with a 38-yard interception return (Norton kick) to put the Broncos up 7-0. It was the only score of the first quarter.

Colfax took its first lead, 8-6, on a 4-yard run by Kellen McNannay (Getz pass from Ellis) to start the second quarter scoring.

The Broncos answered back with a 37-yard pass from Dylan Hartz to O'Neill (pass failed) to retake the lead 13-7 and end the first half scoring.

An Austin Getz 36-yard reception from Brady Ellis (run failed) put the Bulldogs back on top 14-13.

O'Neill's third score of the game, a 56-yard run, (passed failed) pushed the tally to 19-14 in favor of LRS as the third quarter came to an end.

The Broncos added two more scores in the fourth quarter on a Cort Ruzicka 2-yard dash (PAT), and an O'Neill 30-yard run (PAT), then shut down the Bulldog offense to close out the game, 34-14.

The win over Colfax improves LRS to 4-0 in the Northeast 2B standings, and 8-0 overall and crowns the Broncos league champion.

O'Neill finished with 163 yards rushing on 20 carries and four touchdowns. Ruzicka added 53 yards and a score.

Hartz completed five of 11 passes for 80 yards and a TD.

The LRS defense forced four Bulldogs turnovers for the game.

The Broncos are back on the gridiron Friday when LRS hosts Liberty at 7 p.m. in the last regular season game of the year.
