| October 31, 2012 6:00 AM

EPHRATA - Grant County Public Utility District commissioners have narrowed the field for a vacant seat on the commission to three candidates.

The district 3 board position will be left vacant by the resignation of Royal City's Randy Allred on Nov. 1. The vacant position on the five-member board represents the southwestern portion of Grant County known as District 3 which covers Mattawa, Quincy, George, Royal City and rural areas west of Moses Lake.

The three finalists were selected from a pool of seven qualified candidates, according to Board President, Tom Flint. Each candidate was interviewed by the commission.

Following a community meeting with the finalists in Quincy last night, commissioners will appoint a candidate to fill the remainder of Allred's unexpired term.
