Huskies maul Vikings

OTHELLO -The No. 1 ranked Huskies lived up to their billing Friday night as Othello crushed the visiting Selah Vikings 48-0.

David Garza led the offensive attack for Huskies, throwing for 194 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for another for another score in the lopsided win.

The victory for Othello runs the teams' league record to 6-0 in CWAC play and 7-0 overall.

The game was never in doubt as the Huskies scored at will, hanging 14 points on the board in the first quarter, seven in the second, 21 in the third, and six in the fourth to cruise to an easy win.

Trevor Walker was on the receiving end of Garza's first TD pass as he raced across the goal line from 7-yards out (Miguel Gonzalez PAT) to put Othello up 7-0. Josiah Petersen's 4-yard dash (PAT) made it 14-0 as the first quarter came to an end.

A 1-yard Garza sneak (PAT) pushed the Huskies lead to 21-0 at the break.

Othello picked up where the team left off in the first half, scoring at will as two TD receptions by Justin Lind (PATs) and a 29-yard fumble return for a score by Callen Anderson increased Othello's lead to 42-0 heading into the final quarter of play.

Justin Krebs 3-yard run (kick failed) in the fourth quarter brought the final Huskie tally to 48-0

Garza finished with 11 completions in 17 attempts for 194 yards and two passing touchdowns. Petersen carried the rock 11 times for 62 yards to lead the Othello ground attack.

Walker had 67 receiving yards on four catches, and Lind finished with two receptions for 62 yards.

The stout Huskie defense held the Vikings to 62 total yards for the game. The loss drops Selah to 2-5 in league play and 2-4 overall.

Othello is back in action Friday when the Huskies travel to Toppenish for a game against the 1-5 Wildcats.
