ROYAL CITY - Royal surprised Burbank with a 25-23 first-game victory but dropped a South Central A Conference East volleyball match to the Coyotes last week.

Burbank won the next three games by scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-17.

"Missed chances to steal one from one of the top teams in the league," coach Paul Olsufka said. "The lack of finishing continues to be a thorn in our side."

Kayla Smith led the Knights with 17-17 serving, five aces, two blocks and four kills. Seila Jenks had 8-9 serving with one ace and six digs.

Tonya Iverson served 18-21, had four aces, two blocks and four kills. Morgan Small served 7-8 with four digs and two blocks.

Tahlia Ledezma had 12-12 serving, two aces, 12 digs, eight assists and three kills. Rebecca Lee went 5-5 serving.

"Hopefully we can use the good and the bad things that happen in the games to learn from and begin to understand how to take that next step toward winning," Olsufka said.
