EPHRATA - A Moses Lake man is accused of raping a neighbor in her apartment.

Prosecutors charged Christopher J. Carlson, 27, with first-degree rape and second-degree rape in Grant County Superior Court, according to court records.

Grant County Superior Court Judge John Knodell set Carlson's bail at $100,000, according to court records.

The victim reportedly returned to her apartment complex Saturday when she saw a neighbor she felt was sketchy in the parking lot, according to a Moses Lake police report. She allegedly asked Carlson to escort her to her apartment. He did and left.

Carlson reportedly returned between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., knocking on the victim's door, according to court records. When she allegedly let Carlson in, he was drinking alcohol, and carried a glass with what appeared to be vodka into the home.

When Carlson sat on the recliner, he allegedly grabbed the victim, and forced her to sit on his lap, according to court records. When she tried to stand up, Carlson reportedly held her.

He reportedly forced her down and raped the victim, according to court records. After the alleged incident, Carlson told the woman he would return later.

Carlson allegedly denied contacting the woman after escorting her to her apartment, according to the police report. He reportedly said he passed out at 10 p.m.
