As far back as I can remember -when the late President John F Kennedy was in office - I was for various civil rights or political causes of which did not necessarily affect me personally.

While there were progresses before I was born, I saw various groups, local and nationwide continue the fight and made enormous strides for equality. I'm so amazed on how we as a state have become more aware of equality for all, even for those who are different from us.

The Washington State Constitution's first article is considered to be the Declaration of Rights. Article I, Text of Section 3: "Personal Rights No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law." We gay and lesbian Washingtonians must not be denied our civil rights.

Passing Referendum 74 will strengthen marriages which will help to continue to provide loving, healthy and stable familial environments for kids. In turn, it will benefit our communities to have lifted up such valuable members of society.

Please vote yes on R-74 for marriage equality.
