Chiefs soccer beats Eastmont

EAST WENATCHEE - Moses Lake hit the road Wednesday seeking to avenge an earlier shoot out loss to the Wildcats at Lions Field. And the Chiefs did just that as they turned back Eastmont 6-3.

Sophomore Alysha Overland, fresh off a hat trick performance against Sunnyside Saturday, scored four times in the match to lead Moses Lake to a convincing win.

"This was a good win for us after losing to them at home," coach Ric Char said. "Alysha had a great game ... really earned all her scores. She has 14 goals now and is on track for 20 this season."

Lizzy McGraw got the Chiefs on the board first with a goal three minutes in to the game to put Moses Lake up 1-0.

The Wildcats answered back with a score by Rebecca Tarbert (13:15) to tie the match 1-1.

Overland's first score of the contest at the 24:33 mark allowed Moses Lake to retake the lead 2-1. Eastmont's Lindsey Martin tied the score 2-2 with a goal at the 35th minute of play to end the first half scoring.

Three consecutive goals by Overland in the second half of action broke the match wide open, 5-2.

An insurance goal by McKenna Walker at the 65:30 mark rounded out the scoring for Moses Lake.

The Chiefs keeper Janet Alvarado had five saves in the match.  Moses Lake had 17 shots on goal to Eastmont's 10.

The Chiefs were scheduled to play a nonleague match against Mt. Spokane Friday, but the game has been canceled. Moses Lake is back on the pitch Oct. 16 when the Chiefs travel to Wenatchee to face the Panthers.
