Ag markets suffered a general divergence Wednesday
Corn futures fluctuated around unchanged levels Wednesday. The corn market followed soybeans lower Tuesday night as improved weather forecasts weighed on prices. Ongoing U.S. dollar gains weren’t helpful either. However, news of a sizeable wheat sale to Nigeria boosted those markets, which in turn appeared to keep yellow grain prices stable through the end of the day. September corn settled up 0.25 cent at $3.6175/bushel Wednesday, while December rose 0.5 cent to $3.715.

Crop futures firmed Monday
Corn futures followed the soy markets higher. The prospect of a huge fall crop has badly depressed corn futures, but prices rebounded in concert with the soy complex Monday. Talk of surging export demand for soybeans and dryer August weather is apparently supporting the markets. Traders were probably disappointed by the Export Inspections result, but futures acted well anyway. September corn gained 4.75 cents to $3.5775/bushel at their Monday close, while December rose 5.0 cents to $3.7675.

Friday, July 25
Ag futures ended the week in decidedly mixed fashion
Corn futures posted a late bounce Friday afternoon. Large fall harvest prospects have recently exerted great pressure on the corn market, but concurrent slippage in the soy complex added weight this morning. A late statement from the U.S. Grains Council argued that China’s forthcoming rule on DDG imports is unworkable, which didn’t help the bullish cause. However, prices rebounded somewhat at the close, thereby seeming to reflect wheat strength, bottom picking and short-covering before the weekend. September corn settled up 1.5 cents to $3.63/bushel in late Friday trading, while December rose 2.25 cents to $3.7175.

Get out and vote
Mr. Tom Dent came to the Columbia Basin in 1955. He set up roots and has watched his community grow. I know Tom well and he has taught me the value of putting differences aside and to work together. It is only then, we can accomplish wonderful things for our fellow citizens and our families. We have become more divided in this country than ever before. We need leadership that will once again unite and put the rhetoric aside. Tom is an honorable man that will serve us well as the 13th district state representative. Please, get out and vote-for our kids, our families, and future.
The race for PCOs
We highly endorse Brent Bishop and Barbara Morgan for Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs) in Wheeler 1 and Moses Lake 7. Both would make excellent PCOs. They have sworn to listen to and represent the people in their precinct, not their own special agenda and interests. We know them personally and they are people of integrity and principles who keep their word.

Have you ever gotten an old car and gone through the process of learning if it will be reliable and trustworthy or be unsafe, undependable, and constantly let you down? Then because of someone's uncaring, inattention and carelessness your old car is damaged. Not a lot of damage but because you were still learning the good and bad of it...you know it is not worth trying to repair. So we go around dented until something better can be found.

Support for Garth Dano
Compliance with ethical rules is one of the most basic obligations of all lawyers, and especially a prosecuting attorney, who serves as the chief law enforcement official in the county. The current Grant County Prosecutor, Angus Lee, has been charged with unethical conduct by the Washington State Bar Association. (At Mr. Lee's insistence, Grant County taxpayers have paid $92,402.88 to date for a lawyer to defend Mr. Lee in these disciplinary proceedings.) Mr. Lee has also been disqualified from prosecuting a case by a superior court judge, again based on unethical conduct. The bar association and courts have done their part to respond to Mr. Lee's conduct. Now it is time for the voters to elect a new prosecutor.
Clint Didier for Congress
As I spend countless hours campaigning, I continually hear that we need to get rid of all the Congresspersons. I agree we should replace the huge majority and establish term limits because they have allowed the US to get in the mess we are currently witnessing. It was time for Doc Hastings to go because he had just become another establishment Republican without the courage to stand up to the progressives in D.C. So now we have our chance to replace him with a strong, moral, Christian man with the guts to do the right thing. Our borders are invaded daily by illegal aliens, our status in the world declines, we continually turn away from God and the Biblical principles we were founded on, the economy flounders in continual recession, our debt will hit 20 trillion dollars soon, and wars are erupting all over the world. For anyone following what is going on, it is clear that we cannot afford to elect another establishment career politician or attorney. We need Clint Didier to represent our district in Congress. He has the fortitude to give his 100% effort to trim our government and it's huge deficit spending and he will not vote to raise taxes!
Strong candidate in Precinct 7

Bears made presence felt in the ag markets Thursday afternoon
Corn futures dipped on China talk Thursday. Corn futures followed soybeans higher Wednesday night and seemed likely to keep rising after the weekly Export Sales report stated the new-crop result far above expectations. However, rumors that China will insist that U.S. DDGs shipped to that country be certified free of an unapproved GMO trait apparently undercut the market. September corn settled 1.0 cent lower at $3.615/bushel late Thursday, while December sagged 1.25 cents to $3.695.

Ag markets proved surprisingly changeable Thursday morning
Corn futures dipped on China talk Thursday morning. September corn sank 0.25 cents to $3.6225/bushel late Thursday morning, while December sagged 0.5 cent to $3.7025.

Dani Bolyard is fair-minded, would serve district well
I'm writing today in support of Dani Bolyard for District 13 Representative. Dani is a person of strong Republican principles, and she has worked tirelessly to restore the American Dream of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As the chairwoman of the Grant County Republican Party, she always maintained a strict adherence to the party bylaws, and remained fair minded even in the face of opposition. She is a Constitutional scholar, and a fervent defender of our god-given rights. We need principled representatives like Dani now, more than ever. Please join me in voting for her!

Support for Angus Lee
Angus Lee is a dedicated Prosecutor who has a passion for his job. We could not do any better than this Marine. A warrior with a big heart!! An experienced prosecutor and man of integrity! Why would we elect a lawyer who has only been a Defense Attorney and whose passion seems to be getting people off in DUI cases? And who has the support of area Defense Attorney's who have a grudge because the Prosecution is winning cases. Lee has the support of the citizens who are sick and tired of drunk drivers, gangs, sexual deviants and criminals. Don't settle for less than the best!!
Tom Dent would serve the 13th District with honor and high standards
This is intended as an unqualified endorsement of Tom Dent as a candidate for the Washington State Legislature for the 13th District, Position #1.

Common Sense
Some concepts are not easy to understand, so I want to clarify this one. Let's get this straight...we finally have a person with high ethical standards, doing an excellent job as Grant County Prosecutor. Now we're supposed to believe that a lawyer who has spent his entire career trying to keep criminals out of jail wants to take a large pay cut, in order to put them in jail as a prosecutor. Something smells fishy to me! What actually makes sense is to retain Angus Lee. Allow him to contiunue the work for which he was elected.
Dani Bolyard Best Choice For 13th District
I would like to go on record as endorsing Dani Bolyard for House District 13, Position 1. As a single working female, I often feel ignored by our leadership. When Dani served as the Grant County Republican Chairwoman, I saw her set aside her own personal views to help promote the views of the entire group. Dani and I do not agree 100% on everything, but never once has she tried to tell me I was wrong and she was right. She will listen and consider my opinion while expressing her own.

Corn futures end Wednesday lower
Corn futures ended the day with lower quotes. That marked the seventh consecutive session of weakness. The corn prices fell to the lowest since August 2010 on a continuous chart. The market was depressed by the ideal crop weather conditions as the crop moves into pollination. However, talk of sizeable export sales to unknown destinations and Japan limited the sustained losses. Traders are anticipating USDA to raise the yield to an average of 166.8 from USDA’s estimate at 165.3 in June. September corn dropped 7.00 cents to $3.9125/bushel, while December dove 6.25 cents to $3.98.

Dan Newhouse: Looking down the road
Dan Newhouse has spent a lot of time at the point where government and agriculture intersect. He's a third-generation farmer from the Yakima Valley, working the family farm near Sunnyside. In addition to that, Newhouse has also served as a representative in the Washington State legislature from 2003 to 2009. When his term ended, Newhouse served as Director of Washington State's Department of Agriculture until 2013. He jokes that he's served in two branches of the government, and now all he needs to do is be appointed to the state Supreme Court. Although, he points out, it sort of helps to be an attorney rather than a farmer. Instead, Newhouse has a BS degree in Agricultural Economics from Washington State University and is a graduate of the Washington Agriculture and Forestry Leadership Program. He was born in the Yakima Valley and has raised his family there as well.
