MOSES LAKE - Workers are putting the finishing touches on the exterior of the new pool building at Moses Lake High School.

Some of the interior work, pouring the concrete floors being one example, will depend on the weather, Mark Johnson, the district's director of business and operations, said. (Very hot temperatures can cause problems for concrete, he said.)

Otherwise the $2.6 million project is on schedule and on budget, Johnson said. He provided the construction update during a recent Moses Lake School Board meeting. Board members decided to tour the site prior to their July 24 meeting.

In other business, Johnson reported district officials and the union representing classified (non-teaching) employees have reached tentative agreement on a new three-year contract. Employees will be voting on the contract Wednesday, Johnson said. Depending on the outcome of the vote, the contract could be submitted to the board at its July 24 meeting, he said.

Board members approved an updated policy covering part-time students. The policy will allow those students to qualify for the services available to full time students, Dave Balcom, the director of student services, said.
