MOSES LAKE - Golf enthusiasts who are looking to help the Moses Lake High School wrestling team will have a chance in early August.

The Moses Lake wrestling team, who finished second in state last season, will be hosting the Moses Lake Wrestling Golf Tournament on Aug. 8 at Moses Lake Golf and Country Club.

Teams of four cost $300 while hole sponsorships cost $150. A BBQ dinner will follow the tournament.

Proceeds from the tournament will help the team pay for equipment, uniforms, meals and summer camps for the wrestlers.

Registration begins at 2 p.m. with the shotgun start following at 3 p.m.

As a special commemoration to Moses Lake's storied wrestling history, holes No. 1 through No. 17 will honor each of the Chiefs' team state wrestling championships.

"It's a legacy of wrestlers that exist at Moses Lake," head wrestling coach Jaime Garza said.

Hole No. 18 will serve as a meet and greet for the participants and Moses Lake wrestlers.

Team reservations can be made by contacting Jim at 750-6878.

Garza said the wrestling team has been traveling to various camps throughout the summer and will be competing at a tournament in Pasco next week.

Moses Lake finished second last summer and will face an improved field of teams from Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho.

Looking forward to next season, Moses Lake only graduated three seniors off a team that won a district championship, a regional championship and finished as the state runner-up in 2013-14.
