Glenna J. Bingham

| July 12, 2014 6:00 AM

Glenna J. Bingham, 84, resident of Moses Lake, Wash. since 1941, was delivered into God's hands July 8, 2014 in her home at Hearthstone. She was born April 10, 1930 in Mohall, North Dakota to Frances (Hatton) and Shirley Hoffman.

Glenna enjoyed spending time with her sister Wanda, aunts, uncles and cousins on a wheat farm. She moved with her family to Moses Lake when she was 11 years old. At age 15, she met Lawrence Bingham, a Texan, shortly after he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, and they were married on April 21, 1946. They were blessed with four beautiful children and they were blessed with a mother's love that wouldn't quit Her loving regard for the individuals they are will forever remind them how tenderly she held the heartstrings, no matter the circumstance. Glenna was a faithful wife, a wonderful mother and a true friend.

Glenna started volunteering at the Moses Lake Public Library in 1955 a year later she was hired full time as a library clerk. She worked there for 35 years and had the privilege to fulfill the role of Children's Librarian and faithful guardian of the books. Some of her favorite memories were the summer reading programs and Saturday story hours. She loved her work and although her work was demanding, she kept the home fires burning brightly. She loved the simple beauties in life, and included her family in everything she did - building memories to last. She served as a host family for a foreign exchange student and performing artist. Her home always had the welcome mat out! She was an expert and gifted seamstress and had a special talent for hand work; there was nothing she couldn't sew, knit, crochet, embroider, quilt or build - pretty much anything with a needle and thread! She was rarely without a project and always had several waiting in line. Her projects were labors of love that will be cherished by those who received them. She was an avid reader, enjoying mystery's, how-to-books, thrillers and suspense novels. She served her community through many organizations; she was one of the founders of the Friends of the Library foundation, she was active in the Moses Lake Women's Club, Soroptomist, Community concerts, Allied Arts and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Enduring the undermining effects of Parkinson's Disease in her latter years, the stainless-steel backbone that so represents her honest and sincere character was an inspiration and a lesson for anyone who chose to see the woman beyond the symptoms. Glenna's faith in her Savior kept her through the toughest of times. She faced death gracefully and without fear. The memories of our mother will remain in our hearts, a blessing to carry into the Kingdom where we shall be reunited with her one bright and glorious day.

Glenna is survived by her beloved children and spouses, Shirley Laurie (Bingham) and Jim Richet, Leah (Bingham) and Rod Torgerson, Lind and Michele (Lester) Bingham, Lawrence and Teresa (Beeman) Bingham; grandchildren Lance Bingham, Ryan Bingham, Lindsey (Bingham) Martinez, Casey (Bingham) Harkleroad, Christopher Bingham; great-grandchildren Gavin, Noah, Olivia, Stella, Gordon and Gianna.

She was preceded in death by her parents Shirley and Francis (Hatton) Hoffman, husband Lawrence H. Bingham, brother Royce Bingham and sister Wanda Cane.
