SOAP LAKE - Auditions for the Masquers Theater production of "The Pajama Game" are scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. July 26 and 27 and Aug. 2 and 3. Auditions will be at the theater, 322 East Main St.

Masquers traditionally finishes its season with a musical in November and December, and "Pajama Game" is the 2014 season finale, Masquers member Joanne Bracht said. "The Pajama Game" is one of those classic boy-meets-girl-during-labor-negotiations comedies.

Maybe the labor negotiations are unusual. But the rest of it is all classic Broadway from its classic period. "Pajama Game" premiered in 1954.

Things are far from restful at the pajama factory, with workers pressing for a 7.5 cent raise and management unwilling to grant it. Management's guy is Sid Sorokin, the factory superintendent, and he's butting heads with Catherine "Babe" Williams, chair of the union's grievance committee. Of course, Sid and Babe are destined to fall in love, and there's a good chance that all will end happily ever after.

Holli Bosnar is directing the Masquers production. "This romantic comedy has a large cast and adults of all ages are encouraged to audition," Bracht said. "Whether you are experienced or just getting your feet wet, there is probably a part for you."

There's a secondary love story, the tale of Hines and Gladys, and cast of factory workers and managers. Along with acting, singing and dancing parts, backstage and technical help is needed, Bracht said.
