Senta Maris Barkley

| July 24, 2014 6:00 AM

Senta Maris Barkley, 8, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Seattle Children's Hospital following a lifelong illness. Her final days were spent surrounded by family.

Although Senta's illness made her appear exhausted, she possessed strength, perseverance and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. Her bravery taught us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories.

She enjoyed swimming, puzzle solving, watching movies (Land Before Time, Kung Fu Panda and many others) and telling stories. Her favorite colors were green and black. Her best friend was her sister, Elena.

With Senta's passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. She will be missed every day, especially her laughter. She will forever remain in our hearts. As a family we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be her parents.

Senta leaves behind wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced her quality of life. Senta's love extends to Beneficial in Home Healthcare providers Linda Miller and Judy Baker. There is a special place in our hearts for Senta's Dr. J. Lawrence Merritt, II and Dr. Jill Dudik-Bross; metabolic dietician, Melissa Edwards; and nurse, Sarah Allen. Because of their continual dedication, love and support, Senta was able to survive some of her toughest medical challenges. All of the special people, too numerous to mention, provided Senta with love and dignity in her life and also in her death.

Senta is survived by her loving parents, Richard and Nanette; sister Elena; grandparents Herlinda Catlin, Mike and Diana Henson, Tom and Josie Barkley; Aunt RaeAnne and Uncle Brian Journey; Aunt Naomi and Uncle Doug Love; Uncle Thomas Barkley Jr; cousins Michael, Micaela, Jacob and James Journey; cousins Anastasia and Thomas Barkley III.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 5:30 pm at the Moses Lake First Presbyterian Church, 1142 W. Ivy Street. Sign the online guestbook at www.kayserschapel.com Arrangements in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory.
