Dean Hankins is the sort of person we want on the city council

How do things like serving his country with 25 years in the U.S. Air Force and two tours in Vietnam sound? How about management and budgeting experience in many departments of the Air Force? Does 40 years in the practice of medicine dealing with all kinds of patients and emergency situations sound like a good background? What kind of person would you want to help lead this city for the next four years? How about someone who is known to be completely honest, someone with unquestioned integrity? Do you want someone who knows the City of Moses Lake and its people? My son was riding home on his bicycle on Westshore Drive when he was run off the road by a truck. The driver left my son for dead. As reprehensible as driving intoxicated is, I am not writing about that. I am writing about what saved his life.

Tips for marinating steak tips
Steak tips are a clever marketing term to create a way to charge a higher price for a cheap cut of meat. Technically speaking, steak tips are cut from the sirloin area from a piece called the sirloin flap. The challenge around here is finding it. If you can find it, buy it whole. It comes as about a 2-pound chunk of meat. If it’s already cut up, do you know for sure what you are getting?

The dusty gravel street had a few people meandering about between the print shop, the general store and the doctor’s office. Others stood idly on the wooden sidewalks. A sheriff’s deputy tried to reason with them a little, but everybody knew what was going to happen. One sot took aim at the deputy, and a few bangs later, both lay dead in the street, the bottle leaking next to the bodies.

Don't let special interest group influence city council election
Do you know what a PAC is? It’s a “political action committee,” a special interest group that will spend money to get the candidate of their choice elected. A candidate can say he or she is self-funded but then a PAC can spend unlimited money on their election. These are most often business people, such as the local Realtors PAC. These are not people who throw away money; they expect something in return for their expenditures. You need to ask yourself what they think they are buying with the money they will be spending in the Moses Lake City Council election. And they are not the only special interest group that has taken an interest in our elections in the recent past.
