Prep roundup: Warden girls soccer continues to roll

WARDEN — Aubree Skone scored twice and assisted on two more goals as Warden beat Mabton 6-0.

The Cougars scored three goals apiece in each half.

“Today’s game allowed us to experiment with girls in new positions,” head coach Hannah Mohs said. “I am proud of the girls and their willingness to continuously serve each other and show their skills in new positions.”

Aaliyah Escamilla scored off an assist from Bailey Whitney within the first minute to give Warden a wire-to-wire lead.

Moses Lake 3, Davis 2 (OT)

YAKIMA — Madi Krogh drew a foul in the first minute of overtime and Denali Knowles’ penalty kick sent Moses Lake home with a win over Davis 3-2.

Both teams were held scoreless in the first half.

Krogh scored in the 58th minute before Davis tied the game in the 69th.

Abby Rathbun helped the Chiefs regain the lead with under 10 minutes to play, scoring off an assist from Morgan Skone.

Davis was awarded a penalty kick in injury time to force overtime.

Toppenish 4, Quincy 2

QUINCY — Quincy allowed a pair of second-half goals and lost to Toppenish 4-2.

The Jacks trailed 2-1 at halftime, but eventually tied the game in the second half after Brianna Pedragon scored on a penalty kick.

Klaritssa Cruz scored Quincy’s first-half goal on a shot into the top right-hand corner from 18 yards out.

Connell 1, Royal 0 (SO)

ROYAL CITY — After sparse attacking for 90 minutes, Connell edged Royal in a shootout and won the game 1-0.

Connell made just two of its penalty shots to Royal’s one.

ELLENSBURG — Ellensburg outlasted Othello in four sets 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 25-17.

Alyssa Hawley recorded 10 kills and four blocks for the Huskies. Mykiah Hollenbeck added nine kills and two aces.

Macy Hampton talled 34 assists.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 3, Tekoa-Rosalia 0

RITZVILLE — Lacey Miller dished 35 assists and Lind-Ritzville/Sprague swept Tekoa-Rosalia 25-23, 25-27, 25-12.

Peyton Curtis had nine kills and Emma Aldrich had 11 digs.

Quincy 3, Grandview 0

GRANDVIEW — Quincy was able to sweep Grandview 26-24, 25-15, 25-20.

Camille Carpenter second in first CBBN race

YAKIMA — Moses Lake’s Camille Carpenter finished second at the first Columbia Basin Big Nine race, finishing in 20:15.6.

Eisenhower’s Erica Simpson won the race in 19 minutes, 36 seconds.

Eisenhower swept both the boys and girls fields with scores of 26 and 34, respectively. Moses Lake finished fourth in the boys’ competition (109) and sixth in the girls’ (144).

Zachery Owens led the Chiefs with a time of 17:04.9. Teammate Joshua Cooper was right behind Owens, clocking in at 17:12.1.

Quincy boys, girls third at home meet

QUINCY — Quincy boys and girls cross country both finished third against Ellensburg and Ephrata.

Ellensburg won both the boys and girls with scores of 25 and 27, respectively. Ephrata was second with 47 points in boys and 45 points in girls; Quincy managed 51 points in boys and 56 points in girls.

Othello finishes third at Prosser

PROSSER — Selah dominated Prosser and Othello, winning comfortably in the boys’ competition with 15 points and the girls’ with 18.

Prosser had 52 points in boys and 44 in girls; Othello scored 70 in boys and 82 in girls.
