WARDEN — If back-to-back games had any affect on Warden, it didn’t show in the scoreboard.

Aubree Skone and Bailey Whitney recorded hat tricks and Warden routed Highland 9-2.

“Playing two days in a row was rough without having a practice in between to work on things,” head coach Hannah Mohs said. “We put the girls in new positions and worked on triangle passes and positions. We got to experiment and really focused on serving each other.”

Warden and Highland traded goals in the fifth and sixth minute before the Cougars rattled off five unanswered before halftime.

Whitney cut off a pass from the Highland goalie and sent the ball right back over her head into the net to break a 1-1 tie in the 15th minute. Skone scored her second goal of the day on an assist by Whitney one minute later.

Skone completed her hat trick in the 31st minute; Whitney added her second goal in the 33rd and Aaliyah Escamilla scored in the 35th.

“Very impressed with Aaliyah Escamilla, Bailey Whitney and Aubree Skone’s ability to see the field and look up and find their teammates,” Mohs said. “I believe that is a true testament of their determination and willingness to serve their teammates.”
