MOSES LAKE — In celebration of National Public Lands Day, a Discover Pass won’t be required to visit Washington’s state parks on Sept. 30.

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is inviting the public to visit any of the state’s parks and celebrate the 24th annual National Public Lands Day, which is coordinated by the National Environmental Education Foundation.

“Public lands offer a great opportunity to get outside and get active. Research shows that getting young people and families to spend more time outdoors is a critical step toward preventing childhood obesity, diabetes and depression,” the Washington State Parks department stated.

Usually people can visit state parks by either purchasing a $30 Discover Pass or by paying $10 for a one-day permit.
