Royal routes College Place on Knights home turf

ROYAL CITY — Royal Football was firing on all cylinders in an SCAC East Conference game against College Place, blowing past the Hawks 74-0 Friday, Sept. 22. It was the 31st win in a row for the Knights who move to 4-0 on the season.

Royal got on the board early and often, scoring its first TD 37 seconds into the game on a 44-yard strike from Sawyer Jenks to Isaac Ellis. The team posted another touchdown 90 seconds later on a 48-yard pitch and catch from Jenks to Corbin Christensen and added a CJ Quintero 2-point conversion run. It was the first of four Christensen TDs in the opening 12 minutes. He scored on another pass from Jenks and added punt returns of 57 and 67 yards. Quintero was also on the receiving end of a 37-yard pass from Jenks and the Knights led 43-0.

The second quarter saw Lorenzo Myrick score twice and Tucker Janett hitting pay dirt on a 17-yard run to put Royal up 64-0 at the half.

A third quarter Janett 32-yard run and a 19-yard field goal from Osvaldo Guerrero rounded out the scoring for the game.

The Knights have now outscored their four opponents 212-3 and have amassed 1672 yards of total offense while giving up just 444. Sawyer Jenks has thrown for 15 touchdowns. The team has ran for 14. The defense has created 10 turnovers, allowed on 20 first downs and scored two TDs. The special teams unit has run back to punt returns for scores.

Royal is back on the gridiron Friday when the Knights host the 2-1 Wahluke Warriors who have posted 96 points in their last two outings. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
