MOSES LAKE — If you are out and about this Saturday you might see a group of nearly 100 motorcyclists riding in unison to support a number of good causes during the American Legion Riders POW/MIA Charity Ride.

Registration for the ride is set for 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the American Legion Post 209 in Moses Lake, 538 W. Broadway Ave., with the opening ceremony scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. The riders will take off about 10:30 a.m. for the Forgotten Heroes Memorial in Moses Lake. From there the riders will travel to McCain Foods in Othello, Pioneer Park in Othello, Dry Falls State Park near Coulee City and the Art Semro American Legion Post 28 in Ephrata. Dinner, raffle drawings and a dance is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the final stop in Ephrata.

Organizers hope to raise more than $15,000 and have more than 100 rides taking part. Proceeds from the event help charities that provide services to military veterans and their families.

Proceeds from the ride will benefit the Thomas A. Biddle Foundation, the Fisher House Foundation and the American Legion. The Thomas A. Biddle foundation helps families who have been affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and suicide by raising funds for scholarships and helping cover costs for special summer support camps and counseling.

Biddle, a former Green Beret, suffered from PTSD and committed suicide on his 39th birthday. Fisher Homes are a network of homes where military and veterans’ families can stay for free while a loved is receiving medical treatment. The Fisher House Foundation ensures that families who stay at the homes do so at no cost.
