Othello rolls past Quincy in CWAC North opener

QUINCY — The Huskies made it back-to-back wins in Central Washington Athletic Conference action with a huge 46-0 shellacking of the Jacks in Quincy Friday.

Othello’s dominance began early when Efrain Palomares returned the opening kick 90 yards for a score (Pat Azevedo Kick). The Huskies posted another first quarter TD on the board when quarterback Kyler Villarreal, hit pay dirt on a 4-yard run.

The second 12 minutes of action saw Othello’s defense get into the scoring act with a safety by linebacker Isaiah Perez who tackled the Jacks signal caller in the end zone. The Huskies added a16-yard TD pass from DJ Guzman to Villarreal and a 32-yard Azevedo field goal to go up top 26-0 at the half.

Villarreal’s 3-yard scamper and a pass to Gage Pruneda for the 2-point conversion pushed the score to 34-0 heading into the fourth quarter.

Steven Ochoa found the end zone twice in the final 12 minutes. The first score coming off a 3-yard run and the second on an 18-yard fumble return.

The Huskies rushed for 285 yards in the contest. Trevor Hilmes led the Othello ground attack with 12 carries for 108 yards. Isaac Barragan added 85 yards on 21 carries.

Villarreal completed 3-of-7 passes for 28 yards. Guzman passed for 31 yards and a score.

Othello (2-2, 1-0) moves into a tie for first with Ephrata (4-0,1-0) in the North Conference standings with the win. The Huskies and Tigers go at it in Othello Friday night. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
