The State of Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) has received an application from Weyerhaeuser Company to limit the pollutant emissions from their Containerboard Packaging manufacturing plant as allowed under the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 173-400-091, iVoluntary limits on emissionsi. The products are constructed of corrugated cardboard. The process uses flexographic printing to apply water based inks. The application for limiting the pollutants was made for their facility located at 13594 Wheeler Road NE, Moses Lake, WA in Grant County. After review of the completed application and other information on file with the agency, Ecology has made a preliminary determination that this proposal will conform to all requirements as specified in Ch. 173-400 WAC and Ch. 173-401 WAC. Copies of the Preliminary Determination and other pertinent information are available for public review at Ecology, 4601 N. Monroe, Spokane, WA, and at the Grant County Planning Department, 32 C Street NW, Ephrata, WA.

Minnie Merrill, 84, Moses Lake resident for the past six years, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Moses Lake. Minnie Lou Zolgar was born January 19, 1921 in Aeneas Valley, Okanogan County, the last of eight children to Frank Zolgar and Theresa (Kaufman) Zolgar. In 1914 they homesteaded in Aeneas Valley then moved to Loomis in 1926 and finally to Tonasket in 1929. Minnie graduated from Tonasket High School in 1939.

He worked the last three summers of his life for the Forest Service out of the Naches Ranger District. "I get to eat lunch on a mountaintop every day and it doesn't get any better than that."

Our dear son John passed away in his sleep in the early morning of July 14, 2005. John was on vacation with his dad in Minnesota when our good Lord decided it was time to relieve John of his earthly health burdens. Diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy as a toddler and congestive heart failure in the spring of 2004, John enjoyed his life right up to the end. He had been to a baseball game with his dad and half-brother the night of his death. A spirited boy, John rarely expressed sadness or disappointment about his physical limitations.

Christopher A. Marthini, 44, passed away June 21 in Richland, Wash. at the Life Care Center. He had been in a coma the past 24 years from a head injury he received in a car accident. Chris was tough - he survived Meningitis at age 6 and a motorcycle accident at age 17.

Notice is hereby given that the Grant County Planning Department has received and found the following shoreline permit application to be technically complete as of June 28, 2005 and ready for processing, public review and comment. A Shoreline Substantial Development permit from the Town of Coulee City, for the construction and placement of an eight (8) foot wide, and eight hundred (800) foot long dike and outfall pipe for a stormwater detention pond to correct the problem of the lagoons being over capacity and restore the natural hydrology to Coulee Lake by the use of a sump pump collection system to collect groundwater that is presently pumped from under existing Coulee City buildings into the sewage collection system, and divert that groundwater into the abandoned sewage lagoons and ultimately into Coulee Lake. SEPA review was conducted by the Town of Coulee City and the DNS has been issued by them on June 9, 2005
