Christopher A. Marthini

| July 1, 2005 9:00 PM

Christopher A. Marthini, 44, passed away June 21 in Richland, Wash. at the Life Care Center. He had been in a coma the past 24 years from a head injury he received in a car accident. Chris was tough - he survived Meningitis at age 6 and a motorcycle accident at age 17.

Chris was born January 16, 1961 in Seattle. He attended Maltby Elementary and Monroe Middle Schools, then graduated from Juanita High School in Kirkland. When Chris was young he was interested in science, so much so that he would chase his sister and brothers around with a straight pin and slide trying to get blood samples for his microscope.

Christ was a Cub Scout, then a Weblo and also in Little League. Chris loved to race dirt bikes with his brothers in Monroe. He enjoyed car races, boating, water skiing, camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends. Chris was treed by a black bear while hunting; that bear became a rug for mom. He was a great help when his mom and dad built their home in Cle Elem. Chris also loved jet planes and dreamed of someday being a pilot.

At the time of his accident he was a journeyman carpenter and a member of the Carpenters Union. He worked for SDL Corp and sometimes operated heavy equipment for his dad's company, Tom's Backhoe and Rock Setting Service.

Chris will be missed terribly by his mother, Marilyn Marthini of Tri-Cities and Soap Lake, Wash.; father, Tom Marthini, Sr. of Soap Lake; brothers Tom Marthini, Jr. and his family Melody, Danny and Dustin of Granite Falls, Wash. and John and Sherri Marthini, nieces Michelle and Samantha, also of Soap Lake, Wash.; sister, Pam and her husband Scott Morrell, nieces Amanda Morrell and Tamara Bell; best friend Mike Murphy; friends and relatives too numerous to mention. He will be in the company of grandparents Ferris and Vivian Canham and Joseph and Elizabeth Marthini, uncle Dick Brousseau, and others. He was a good friend to all who knew him.

Chris, you can fly now!

Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Orthopedic Hospital, Seattle or Head Injury Foundation, Richland, Wash.

No funeral services are planned. There was a private family viewing.
