Lt. Col. Ray Herbert Wagner
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and decorated World War II veteran passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, in Wenatchee. Ray Herbert Wagner was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Sioux City, Iowa to Ray Wagner and Maude Marie Sutherland. He married his high school sweetheart Shirley Jean Tucker on Jan. 15, 1943, and enlisted in the Army the same month as a 2nd Lieutenant. As a member of the 382nd regiment of the 96th Infantry Division (the "Deadeye" Division of World War II), he participated in some of the most critical battles of the Pacific front, including the battles at Leyte and Okinawa. The 96th received the U.S. Presidential Unit Citation for its achievements on Okinawa. Ray received the Silver Star for "gallantry in action against the enemy on Okinawa Island on 12 May 1945." He served in the Korean War and was posted around the world, including tours in Greece, Germany, Honolulu, and Washington, D.C. He received two bronze stars and two purple hearts during his 20-year career. He will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery on July 1, 2008.

Shelby lone Mortensen, 69, went home to be with her loved ones in Heaven on Nov. 14, 2007. She was bom in Aitkin, Minn., on March 30,1938, to Murel L. and Erma Cartie Pratt. Shelby is survived by her sister Jackie of Klamath Falls, Ore., her brother, Chuck, of Weiser, Idaho and one half-sister; her sons, David and Larry, and her daughters, Rochelle, Melissa, and Theresa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her life companion, Clyde Crow. Her parents, one sister and her son, Monte who died in infancy, precede her in death. Shelby worked at Carnation in Moses Lake for 25 years. All who knew her will miss her. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are in care of Benson Family Funeral Service, Chapel, Cemetery and Crematory.

Richard Thomas Morris, 40, of Moses Lake, was born to Leo Thomas (Dusty) Morris and Diana Louise (Jeske) Morris on Dec. 1, 1966, in Auburn, Wash. Rich passed away on Nov. 11, 2007, in Moses Lake. In 1967, the Morris Family moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where Richard attended North Pole Elementary School and became an accomplished violinist, showing his love for music. In 1978, the family moved around to various places, but returned to their hometown, Moses Lake, where Rich attended Moses Lake High School and graduated in 1985, then continued his education at Big Bend Community College. Rich's passion was playing the guitar and singing. He spent his spare time playing music with his family and friends and loved teaching his son and nephew new guitar "licks." Rich made his living as a Journeyman Carpenter. He could build anything from wood and did numerous projects for his mom and friends, which will be enjoyed and treasured by all. He worked for many different construction companies in and around Moses Lake, Spokane and Reno, Nev. Rich is survived by his daughter, Heather, 20, son Matt, 18, both of Spokane, mother Diana, brothers Clint of Moses Lake, Tim of Yakima, his grandmother Alvina (Schmidt, Jeske) Lodoen, one niece, Samantha and nephews Scott, Chris, Dusty, Thomas, his longtime companion Julia Pitt and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Leo "Dusty" Morris in 1987 and brother Donald Morris in 1992. Rich will be missed by all who knew him, but know he's in a better place, playing music with his dad and brother and ultimately, making much needed repairs on those very busy Gates to Heaven!

Harold B. Preston, 90, longtime Warden resident, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Samaritan Hospital. Harold was born to F. Joshua Preston and Grace Briscoe Preston in Eureka, Calif., on Aug. 12, 1917. He graduated from Arcata High School and attended California Polytechnic Institute in San Luis Obispo. He worked as a logger as well as owning his own ranching operation in the Blue Lake area in Northern California for many years. The family moved to Warden in 1962 to farm in block 44, with his son John. They raised registered Shorthorn cattle, selling bulls to ranches throughout the western states.

Robert Braunwart III
Robert Braunwart III passed away on Oct. 14 at the age of 59 in Los Angeles. He was born in Richland, Wash., on March 17, 1948, the oldest of four boys born to Bob and Dorothy Braunwart. Robert had been living in Oaxaca, Mexico, for 15 years prior to returning to the U.S. for medical treatment in 2006. His death was from a rare form of melanoma following a long and unsuccessful battle with cancer.

Don Wayne Redwine, 53, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Don was bom Oct. 3, 1954 at Chehalis, Wash., to James D. and Velma (Overton) Redwine who precede him in death. Don is survived by his brothers, Virgil, David and Jerry and will be missed by his many friends in Moses Lake. Don had lived the last nine years at SunBridge Care and Rehab where he was known to always know what was going on, when something was going to happen, who was in or out, and why. Don's family wish to express their deep appreciation to the staff at SunBridge for the kindness and care they gave Don while he was a resident there. A memorial service will be held for Don at SunBridge on Saturday, Nov.10, 2007, at 1 p.m. Arrangements are in care of Benson Family Funeral Service, Moses Lake.
