Use of suites set for December

QUINCY - Quincy Valley Medical Center staff are giving the public a chance to see the hospital's renovated surgery suites and operating room Monday during an open house.

Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m., the community can take a look at the newly renovated rooms before equipment and supplies are moved in, said Marketing Director Dick Burkenpas. The open house ends at 7 p.m.

Surgeries are going to begin in December, according to Administrator Mehdi Merred.

"We warmly welcome our community members to experience the full detail of this significant project at (Quincy Valley Medical Center)," Burkenpas stated. "With pictures of the past and conversations with our medical staff, community members will be able to see and feel the full transformation."

Burkenpas stated for students interested in a medical career, the open house is an opportunity to learn about the medical field.

"This newly renovated surgery center is part of our long-range plan to meet the changing expectations for health-care services, and our commitment to provide outstanding, compassionate patient-centered medical care to our community," Merred stated. "(The hospital) will begin surgeries in December, offering patients the comfort they deserve and the 'cutting-edge' technology they expect. The project is a significant investment in the changing health-care needs within our ever-growing community."

Minor procedures are currently offered at Quincy Valley Medical Center through the clinic and endoscopic suites, Burkenpas stated. More complex procedures can be offered through the surgery suites and operating room, he added.

"Patients and their families of our community want both, and so do our local health-care providers," Burkenpas stated. "The newly renovated center at (Quincy Valley Medical Center) provides just that."

Quincy Valley Medical Center is located at 908 10th Ave. S.W.
