Bergeson, McFarland receive scholar athlete awards

COLUMBIA BASIN - Moses Lake High School athletes Garin Bergeson and Stephanie McFarland were recent recipients of a special scholar athlete award given to two students at each of the 14 Columbia Basin League schools.

Bergeson, a senior football player for the Chiefs and McFarland, a senior captain for the girls swim team, were Moses Lake's fall winners of the National Electrical Contractors Association and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers award.

The organizations, which help train future electricians and encourage high school students to explore career paths with their counselors, recognize students who demonstrate superior balance in academics, athletics and community involvement.

Eastmont Wildcats: Shae Perry (girls swimming) and Eric Magnussen (football).

Hanford Falcons: Janelle King (volleyball) and Chad Nixon (football).

Kamiakin Braves: Kaitlin Kessie (girls swimming) and Kyle Roberts (football).

Kennewick Lions: Julia Draney (girls soccer) and Luke Loftus (football).

Richland Bombers: Galia Deitz (girls soccer) and Joe Mullen (football).

Pasco Bulldogs: Lee Davidson (volleyball) and Nick Smiley (football).

Southridge Suns: Rachel Burt (girls cross country) and Brad Anderson (football).

Sunnyside Grizzlies: Melissa Stamschror (volleyball) and Jose Barajas (football).

Walla Walla Blue Devils: Sarah Hicks (girls swimming) and Landon Arnett (football).

Wenatchee Panthers: Lauren Eberle (volleyball) and David Belmont (boys cross country).

West Valley Rams: Taylor Fannin (girls soccer) and Garrett Sears (football).
