Ephrata to host 2B,1B state baseball this weekend

EPHRATA – The 2B/1B State Baseball Tournament will be hosted at Ephrata High School on Friday and Saturday, the first time the school has hosted a state championship event, according to a release by the Ephrata School District. Semifinal games for both the 2B and 1B classifications are on Friday beginning at 10 a.m., with Mount Vernon Christian taking on Liberty Christian in the 1B semifinals. State championship games and third/fourth-place games will be held on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Each game will begin 45 minutes after the conclusion of the previous game.

Time of Remembrance golf tournament returns this summer

WARDEN – The Time of Remembrance Golf Tournament will return to the Sage Hills Golf Club in Warden on June 10. The tournament is a four-person scramble and registration is $80 per golfer before June 5. The registration fee includes the green fee, cart and lunch. Holes are also available for sponsorship for $150. Side games at the tournament include a marshmallow drive, pool cue putt, male and female longest drive and closest to the pin. Those interested can register at www.timeofremembrance.org.

BOISE, IDAHO —The top-seeded Eastern Washington Eagles fell on a buzzer-beater to No. 9 Northern Arizona in the men’s Big Sky tournament quarterfinals on Saturday. Lumberjack guard Oakland Fort had the ball kicked out to him after an attempted drive-by guard Jalen Cone with 1.4 seconds remaining, and Fort’s shot left his hand with .4 seconds on the clock. Fort’s shot rang true, as players and coaches swarmed the freshman guard on the opposite end of the floor in celebration. The Eagles and Lumberjacks played back-and-forth all game, with both squads being tied at 35 at the half. Neither team led by more than eight points all night in Boise.
