Local fastpitch teams win tournaments

COLUMBIA BASIN – Two local fastpitch teams took home championships at tournaments in mid-April, as the Washington Rage 14U and 10U squads found success on the diamond.

The Washington Rage 10U team, coached by Lydia DeLeon and Kyleigh Sanchez, took first in the Swing into Spring with Rings Fastpitch Tournament in Ephrata on April 16, going 2-2 in the tournament and defeating the Rampage, out of Ephrata, in the championship game.

In the 14U Swing into Spring with Rings Fastpitch Tournament in Ephrata hosted on the same weekend, the Rage went 5-1 in the tournament including a 14-6 win over the Spokane Epic in the championship game. The 14U Rage – coached by Bob Richardson and ​​Nick Borchert, with players from Moses Lake, Othello, Royal City, East Wenatchee and Wenatchee – also competed in a tournament in Selah from April 22-23, going 4-1 and defeating the Yakima Tigers 20-12 in the finals.

The 14U Washington Rage won two tournaments last month, competing in Ephrata and in Selah. The team consists of (not in order) Noel Stauffenberg, Kiarah Esparza, Ally Altizer, Juli Rodriguez, Stevie Getzinger, Avery Getzinger, Julia Balderas, Kayla Tebow, Amilia Borchert, Grace Johnson, Amaiah Martinez, Bella Suarez, Julia Breiler and Karlee Sanchez.
