GOVERNMENT
Reader suggest listening more to voters
When did our elected servants forget their relationship with us? When did they forget we are their boss? When did they feel they should ignore inputs from their constituents’ collective intellect or that they could make better decisions than the specialized individual or group? At what point did their path diverge from the greater good?
MOSES LAKE SIGNS
Reader disagrees with ordinance
I attended the City of Moses Lake’s council meeting on August 11th, eager to hear debate on both sides of the recent political sign issue. On one hand, I’m not sure who (other than the city) should decide what message should be on public property (like the POW-MIA flag which flies under the US flag at City Hall). I am more persuaded by the other side of the argument, however, that the city cannot decide to allow some political messages, but filter others.
MOSES LAKE SIGNS
Reader upset over loss of signs
I am writing this letter not only for what has happened to me in the last week, but for all the current candidates running for office. I recently put out some signs within the county and yes part of the city for my campaign for Port Commissioner. Every day this week I went into town to take care of business and I noticed my signs disappearing. After contacting the City of Moses Lake about this (thinking they were just in the wrong spot) I was told “Mr. McGowan we at the city have not pulled any of your signs” every year this thing happens to someone or all that run for public office. We as candidates put a lot of money into signs and other things and to have someone come and take them down is not a cool thing to do please respect what we have. Thank you for your support.

GRANT COUNTY PROSECUTOR
Reader supports Albert Lin
The Prosecuting Attorney of Grant Count has a heavy burden; charges of crimes from the legal authorities must be carefully examined, and the proper charges filed. Without an experienced person in that important position, we will not have the law and order we need and deserve. That’s one of the many reasons I support Albert Lin for Prosecutor. Albert has been in the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office for 10 years, working in all courts, but mostly Superior Court, where the most significant cases are heard. He has been trained by John Knodell, and has the most experience in the necessary functions of the office. Albert Lin also has the strength, determination, and persistence to carry out this responsibility plus run the office. A team player, Albert can keep the office running smoothly and harmoniously.

So, while we are always happy to support them, entertaining events such as this make it all the more pleasurable to be involved. So thanks much to the Grant county EDC, the volunteers, supporters, and the other sponsors that made this event not only possible and successful, but also a real joy!

I-1033
Reader opposes initiative
Right now is the time to act. Tim Eyman is trying it again with I-1033 an initiative to lower property tax. At first it sounds good but its not, with jobs and many other issues are on the line like public saftey, education, healthcare to name a few and we need to act NOW. I don’t think our economy or any other in the state could afford further job losses. Take some time and read his proposal on I-1033 and then read opposing arguements and make your own opinion but I say “Hell NO”. Here is alittle info taken online from various news and information websites,

Health care reform issue is not the end of it. You the congress need to give us the poor your insurance plans if you think that we don’t deserve a decent health care reform for us, the families that work very hard to support our families. Why is it that there is money for other bills, but not for a very important issue like health care reform?
