Grid Kids football sign ups this week

MOSES LAKE — Registration for the 2009 Grid Kids football program will begin at 6 p.m. tonight at the practice football field behind Moses Lake High School.

Registration opportunities will also be available Tuesday night at 6 p.m. and Wednesday night at 6 p.m. behind Moses Lake High School.

The Moses Lake Grid Kids program is comprised of two divisions for prospective players.

The Warrior Division is open to third and fourth graders and the Brave Division is open to fifth and sixth graders. Registration fees for the Moses Lake Grid Kids are $125 per player amd registration forms are available at the Moses Lake Parks and Recreation Department.

Moses Lake head football coach Todd Griffith said the Moses Lake Grid Kids football program provides local youth with an opportunity to begin playing football at a young age.

“(Football) is a great, competitive sport,” he said. “(Grid Kids) is a great avenue for the kids to get a step up in football. It teaches the kids the basics of the game and they are able to grasp the concepts.”

The 2009 Moses Lake Grid Kids football program will include 10 youth games over a six-week period with the season concluding Saturday, Oct. 10.
