MOSES LAKE — Andrew Larson-Pulver hit the first pitch he saw to lead off the top of the sixth inning over the fence at Larson Playfield and the Puget Sound Roxx knocked off Team Cape Cod 3-2 Monday afternoon.

The Roxx jumped on Team Cape Cod early with a run in the top of the first inning, but the New England Regional Champions stormed back in the bottom half of the inning to pull even at 1-1.

Puget Sound tried to pull away in the top of the second with their second run of the contest, but Team Cape Cod managed to pull even again in the bottom of the third.

The contest seemed destined for extra innings as Puget Sound starting pitcher Scott Kusminsky and Team Cape Cod starting pitcher Mike McGinnis refused to budge on the hill as the game progressed.

After a scoreless fourth and fifth, Larson-Pulver hit the first offering of the sixth inning over the left-center field wall and the Puget Sound Roxx managed to knock off the New England Champions 3-2 to improve to 2-1 in pool play.

Team Cape Cod received a bye Sunday and fell to 1-1 at the 2009 Babe Ruth World Series.

Hammond, Ind. 7, Seattle 2

The Pacific Northwest Regional Champions tried to climb back in the contest with a run in the top of the fourth and another in the fifth, but Hammond pushed two more across the board in the bottom of the fifth.

San Gabriel Valley, Calif. 4, Minnetonka, Minn. 3

MOSES LAKE — Minnetonka, Minn., over came an early 1-0 deficit to the Pacific Southwest Regional Champions Monday, but San Gabriel Valley, Calif., rallied late to knock off the Midwest Plains Regional Champions.

The Pacific Southwest Regional Champions pulled even in the top of the third, but Minnetonka would not go quietly in the home half of the inning as they reclaimed the lead with a run of their own.

Minnetonka continued to keep San Gabriel Valley off balance through the fourth inning, but San Gabriel pushed a pair of base runners across the plate in the fifth to hold on to a 4-3 victory and remain undefeated in pool play.

Following their opening day bye, San Gabriel Valley improved to 2-0 and Minnetonka dropped their third straight contest to fall to 0-3 at the 2009 Babe Ruth World Series.
