Moses Lake man dies on I-90

MOSES LAKE — Pedro V. Sanchez, 40, Moses Lake, died Sunday morning after colliding with another vehicle on Interstate 90, one mile east of Moses Lake.

Sanchez was traveling eastbound on the interstate in a 1989 Honda Accord, the Washington State Patrol reported Monday. He reportedly struck the rear of an eastbound 1985 International hauling van traveling in his lane.

Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Roger D. Larsen, 49, Moses Lake, was driving the van and was not injured.

The cause of the collision was allegedly due to Sanchez’s inattention to the vehicle in front of him, the state patrol reported.

The Honda Accord was totaled and towed from the scene.

Approximately $5,000 worth of damage was reported on the van, the state patrol reported. It was driven from the scene.

No citations were issued.

Sanchez was a Royal High School graduate and supporter of the Royal Knights football program.

He is survived by his wife Maria A. Sanchez, his six children Meagan, Makaili, Marcy, Melanie, Daniel, and Ernie, according to the Benson Family Funeral Services.

Services are slated for Aug. 26 in the Royal High School Gym from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Holy mass begins at 2 p.m.
