He moved to Yakima, WA when he was two years old. Steve married Arleen Ann Brown on October 8, 1966. They moved to Seattle in 1968 and he went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad. Steven and Arleen moved to Moses Lake in February 2000.

She was born on December 17, 1917 in Sugar City, Idaho the daughter of Makino (Kawamoto) and Sagitaro Yamamoto. Her youth was spent in Wapato, WA where Sue graduated from Wapato High School in 1935. On January 30, 1938 she married Kiyoshi Matsumura in Wapato. Following WWII, Sue moved to Moses Lake where she raised her family. She continued to live in Moses Lake, WA until 2000, when Sue moved to the lower valley. She enjoyed bowling, and attending Nisei Women's Club.
