Juan "Johnny" Garcia Gonzales

April 17, 1940 – June 27, 2021

Johnny Gonzales, 81, was born April 17, 1940, in Texas. He went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Johnny lived in Othello well over 50 years with his wife Carolina, where they raised their four boys and Johnny worked at and retired from McCain Foods.

Johnny started his career at Chef Reddy which later became McCain Foods. He held positions in raw receiving, then became a machine operator. Later he was promoted to maintenance technician and then earned his certificate as a journeyman electrician. Eventually he was promoted to electrical engineer and spent many years as a supervisor and special projects coordinator. He retired from McCain with over 40 years of service.

Johnny enjoyed fishing, camping, backyard barbecues and watching football and the Mariners. Spending time with his family was important to him and he adored his wife, Carolina. He would occasionally sing “Sweet Caroline” to her and her adventurous spirit brought him so many wonderful memories. She was the light of his life.

Johnny is preceded in death by his wife Carolina Gonzales, mother Leonor Silva and stepfather Juan Silva.

Johnny is survived by his sons Jesse Gonzales, Rick Gonzales, David Gonzales and Steve (Gloria) Gonzales; grandchildren Monique, Jonathan (Kiana), Gyeric, Conner, Tyler (Alex), Clay (Lily), Levi and Ian; and great-grandchildren Leviticus, Aleah, Ezra, Zemira, Mia and Zaccai. He also is survived by several siblings as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 3 p.m., at New Vintage Church, 2588 N. Columbia Center Blvd., Richland, Washington.
