Ray 'Bud' Pfeifer

Ray 'Bud' Pfeifer passed away October 3, 2014 in Ellensburg, WA formerly of the Soap Lake and Marlin areas. He is survived by his two children Marilyn (Michael) Santangelo and Lyle (Marlene) Pfeifer along with his six grandchildren: Joe (Casey) Giovanelli, Maggie Santangelo and Mitchell, Matthew, Brian and Kaitlin Pfeifer. Ray has four brothers Cecil, Dale, Loren, and Keith Pfeifer along with three sisters Lois Starkel, Lorene Arbuckle and Donna Rainey and numerous nieces and nephews. Ray is preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2002, brother Howard and three sisters Lenora Wraspir, Gladys Nelson and Iva Thrall. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Marlin, WA and a former Ephrata Elks member. Ray worked on the family wheat farm and later became co-owner of Pfeifer Farms with his brother, Dale. Bud will be missed by all who knew him. He was a gentle soul and a really funny guy. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the Zion-Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Odessa, WA on Friday, October 10 at 11 am with Pastor Mark Squire, officiating. Hazel Sheppard Craig was born November 11, 1918 in Washburn, Missouri to Earl and Mattie Ward and died May 6, 2013 in Moses Lake, Washington. She had five brothers: Glen, Clifton, Francis, who preceded her in death and Clyde and Ross who survive her. She married Kyle Craig on June 22, 1940. They were married for 49 years until his death June 16, 1989. Hazel is survived by her six children: Larry (Becky) of Eden, Idaho, Marvin (Arlene) and Gary (Barbara) both of Moses Lake, Washington, Janet Bohnet of Bremerton, WA, Debbie (Mark) Leader of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Cindy Tobin of Mount Vernon. She is grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren (including baby on the way would make it 11) and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Kyle and her grandson Mark. She moved from Mount Vernon after Kyle's death to Ephrata, Washington and then to Moses Lake. She spent the last years of her life at Hearthstone Assisted Living where she found a new side of herself. She wrote poems and short stories and even had a poem published. She enjoyed people, playing cards and bingo at Hearthstone.

Wilma Bramblett was born in 1934 in Hagerman, New Mexico. Her family moved to California, where she graduated high school and married the love of her life, Kenneth Dagenette, in 1950, becoming Wilma Dagenette. She and her husband and family lived along the West Coast as far north as Juneau, Alaska. Wilma raised her children to enjoy laughter, reading, music, and each other. Her most precious gift to them was an unshakable faith in a loving God. She had the gift of a peacemaker, and people drawn to her received loving help and counsel. Wilma moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2005, with most of her family, where she stepped across into the presence of Jesus and eternal life on November 18, 2012.

James L. Darby, 58 of La Conner and Moses Lake, WA passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in Spokane, WA. He was born December 28, 1953 in Mount Vernon, WA to Leo W. and Mary E. (Hall) Darby. Jim graduated from La Conner High School and Skagit Valley College and in 1974 he went to work at the San Juan Cannery as a mechanic. After three years of experience at the Cannery, he began a 35 year career with National Frozen Foods at the Burlington plant. When the Burlington plant closed, he transferred to the Moses Lake plant where he served as a field mechanic, shop mechanic and supervisor, returning to La Conner on weekends. Jim was a charter, and life member of the American Motorcyclists Association; he was also a member of the Ephrata Sportsmen's Association, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing and black powder shooting competitions. Jim is survived by his sisters, Mary L. Neff (and husband, Tom), Jane A. Chase (and husband, Tim); nephews, David and Levi Chase; and niece, Heidi Chase. A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the La Conner Civic Garden Club, 622 S 2nd St., La Conner, WA. Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home.

Jewel Dean Richards, age 82, of Othello, Washington, passed away October 16, 2016 at the Hospice House in Kennewick, Washington. She was born in Blue Springs, Alabama on June 11, 1934. Jewel graduated from J. B. Pennington High School. She was married to Maurice Dean Richards on December 9, 1955 in Sunnyside, Washington and were later sealed together for eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple in Utah. They had two sons, Michael and Terry, and enjoyed 45 years of marriage until Maurice passed away May 12, 2001. Jewel was a lead at McCain Foods when she retired at the age of 65. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and volunteered at Avalon Care Center. She had a passion for gardening flowers and vegetables. Jewel is survived by her loving sons, Michael and wife Penny Richards, of Othello and Terry and wife Diana Richards of Oracle, Arizona, and sisters, Ann Radach and Sue Brisco. Jewel also leave four grandchildren Amanda, Charles, Cody, and Rowdy, and one great-granddaughter Ava, to cherish her loving memory. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 11:00 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Seventh Avenue in Othello. Bishop Stevens will be officiating.
